Lisa Menezes - Physiotherapist

Lisa  has worked as a physiotherapist for over three decades since graduating from the University of Toronto in Physiotherapy (with distinction). Her career spans private practice, sport medicine, performing arts, corporate health, clinical management, mobile care, and hospital-based practice, reflecting a lifelong commitment to helping people move, recover, and perform at their best.

She has extensive experience working with high-performance athletes and teams. Lisa has worked as a physiotherapist for several WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) 1000 tournaments, treating some of the top tennis players in the world and collaborating closely with international physiotherapists. She also traveled internationally with Canada’s Paralympic Wheelchair Basketball Team (Wheelchair Basketball Canada), serving as part of the Integrated Support Team for approximately five years. Lisa has also provided on-site care at the international Pan Am Games and the Senior Pan Am Gymnastics Championships. In addition, she worked with the Toronto Dragons Rugby Team for five years, providing on-field care and serving as a first responder for acute sports injuries. During this time, she managed numerous concussions, fractures, sprains, and other musculoskeletal injuries, while coordinating emergency care when required. She has completed Safe Sport certification, supporting her commitment to ethical athlete care.

Lisa has also worked extensively in the performing arts and corporate media settings. She provided on-site physiotherapy for the television series Battle of the Blades and for live productions including Sweeney Todd at the Princess of Wales Theatre and the Ford Centre for the Performing Arts with Livent. She has treated numerous Broadway professionals, including Tony Award–winning actors, as well as professional actors, and media personalities and corporate professionals through her on-site work with Rogers Communications’ Corporate health-care team, where she provided physiotherapy for thirteen years.

Dedicated to advancing the profession, Lisa has assisted and co-instructed in the Orthopaedic Level System for over a decade and mentored physiotherapy and kinesiology students from the University of Toronto and the University of Waterloo. She holds her FCAMPT (Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy) designation, a nationally recognized specialization in advanced manual and hands-on treatment. As part of her advanced learning, she has mentored with sports medicine physicians who also perform on-site ultrasound assessments and guided needle-based interventions, expanding her interdisciplinary understanding of complex musculoskeletal care. She has completed more than 35 post-graduate courses, including advanced training in orthopaedics, acupuncture and dry needling, pelvic health, fascial stretch therapy (Level II), strength and conditioning, advanced taping techniques, sports medicine, and full-body (upper, lower, and spine) Active Release training. In July 2025, she received the Department of Physical Therapy Exceptional Achievement and Recognition Award from the University of Toronto, recognizing her excellence in mentorship and contribution to student learning.

Lisa continues to provide physiotherapy in both clinic and mobile settings, meeting clients in their homes, gyms, and workplaces to deliver accessible, one-on-one care. She combines evidence-based practice with skilled manual therapy, individualized exercise programs, modalities, acupuncture, and pilates-based movement to help people relieve pain, restore mobility, and improve strength, balance, and overall function.

Her other passions are going to the gym, financial investments, traveling around Italy, and spending time with her family, including being a casual employee of her daughter’s beautiful (adopted) cat when she is in the city.
